Week 3 Web Interface Design
So far I am really enjoying this class and the hands on learning I am receiving from actively working with HTML and CSS coding to write and format web pages! As I have stated in previous weeks, I am a learn by doing type of person, so getting out there and implementing this myself is what helps me really understand and retain what we are learning.
The first week was more of a refresher on previous HTML basics that I had learned in the past. The second week was all new information for me. Learning about CSS is very intriguing because it makes it all feel real. HTML by itself just displays the text in web page and doesn't look very appealing. Whereas, after learning how to implement CSS, a web page begins to look and feel like a real web page that one visits on a daily basis. Formatting the appearance of a web page using CSS is vital in any professional web page because that is the viewers first impression. If you don't have a web page that is visually appealing to the viewer, you could potentially lose the viewers interest before the even peruse the information that you have gathered into the web page. You could have important or even interesting information, but the fact is that if it doesn't appear that way from the start, you will lose the viewer before they can even realize.
Week 2 was more challenging for me, but in a good way! When I did run into these challenges with the CSS I found the W3Schools site to be incredibly helpful when I couldn't find the answers I was looking for in the textbook. If anyone else has any issues as we continue with CSS I advise referencing this website because it is very informational and incredibly thorough!
I am including a screenshot of my progress from last week with our lab assignment to show the CSS formatting I implemented into the basic html page we were provided with.
I look forward to expanding my knowledge more this week in continuing our journey about learning and implementing different styles in CSS.

Hi Jamie,
ReplyDeleteThis course is defiantly a refreshing of my previous class as well. The problem with me is that I took PHP/HTML back in 2008, which for me in this class everything is re-learn. First two weeks I been going through some problem understanding the course shell. But I think I am getting hang of it now. CSS is something I never worked with. Like you mentioned that ttps://www.w3schools.com
have everything that you need. I am looking forward to learn more about CSS.
Martin Gulab.
Hi Jamie, learning CSS is definitely useful in getting to understand the behind the scenes of web development. Since learning CSS I look at websites that I visit info a whole new light. This is because I feel like I comprehend a little of what it took to get the site to look the way it does. It's intriguing, almost like you know a secret that ordinary people don't realize, just as I hadn't until taking this course. Thanks for the tip about w3 school. I'll use it for extra confirmation on what I learn weekly.
ReplyDeleteI have not completed any web page classes in 2 years as I took a break for work. I was hoping to get more time to dive into the book but as usual I am staying up late and processing my iLabs and course project after 14 hour work days. I have not understood the format on the Course project till the week 3 video. However I still holding in there.
