Week 2 Web Interface Design
Only the second week in and I am already getting quite a bit of enjoyment out of this class. Last week was fun in creating my own online resume for our lab. Now I am looking forward to learning how to make our web pages more visually appealing using CSS (cascading style sheets). After reading the chapter for this week, it is a lot of information to take in. I am more of a learn by doing type of person, so I am ready to dive in and get some practice in formatting and wording it appropriately to line up with what we want to accomplish in our web pages. I am going to get started on the lab tonight, but I am going to include some screenshots from my lab from last week to show the pages that I created for our lab which was an online resume profile. I am planning on updating that and expanding on it as I learn more through this class to use as a resume/portfolio piece as I work towards pursuing my career past DeVry. I always advise other students to take advantage of the videos we are provided such as the videos from the professor as well as the videos often included in our lesson/lecture section for the weeks, because they do provide very helpful information that isn't always included in our textbooks. Good luck to you all and let me know what you think of my work so far.
This first page is of course my home page to my online resume with a little information about myself.
All of the links included in the page above and the following pages direct to their appropriate web page.
Next in my online resume is my educational background page, which includes the college educational experience I have had.
Then comes my skills page which talks briefly about the different skills I have acquired with the jobs that I have worked in my lifetime so far and how they could potentially impact a job in the career field I am pursuing.
Finally, we end with my portfolio page which is very brief in explaining that there isn't anything to fill my portfolio with currently. I plan to add to this as I continue to learn and create different sites through my educational requirements and pass time projects.
Hi Jamie,
ReplyDeleteI also learn by doing. Reading rarely imprints information on me until I actually do something with it. I think it might be because I read so much and so often. Information just gets pushed right out of my head. I can follow examples like a boss, and once I've done it a few times, I usually retain it. Unless, of course, I don't use it for years, then I've lost it again. CSS is really new for me. Although I've dabbled in html occasionally (for kicks), I've never touched on CSS.
Hi Jamie,
ReplyDeleteReading about your experience so far reminds me of how excited I was when I first created a website. We didn't have the powerful editors we have today but it was interesting considering the fact that I used notepad! I think you are doing great. Keep the passion flowing... It a great feeling to create something that anyone can view from any part of the world.
