Week 6 Web Interface Design
I was pretty pleased with the way my form turned out for last week. For my lab I did a somewhat bland color scheme, black and white, but I like the way it looks. Plus it is an order form, so I don't think it schould look too colorful. Every week I feel like I come so much closer towards what I really want to do with my career, which is web development. It pleases me to see and feel accomplished in my progress because it didn't really feel like I should be close to graduation because I hadn't taken any classes such as this yet. Now I really see the end is near! While completing last weeks assignment, it took a lot of restraint not to get super into it and figure out how to add certain constraints, such as the validation for a Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, etc. If it weren't for the amount of work I had for other assignments and my other class I probably would have. This is what I have been looking forward to all this time, was writing and creating websites! This class really has been a lot of fun, and I can't believe our 8 weeks is almost over. I am posting a couple of screenshots with my forms from last week down below.
This is a screenshot of my Lab Form:
This is a screenshot of my projects form. I implemented this using a feedback link in the footer of each page, making it easily accessible at any point while browsing my website, as you would normally find on a professional website. I included two screenshots so that you can see the whole pages' content. With this one I kept the same color scheme and background as the rest of my site of course to remain consistent throughout.
I really like the way your form came out, it looks very professional. I am in the same boat as you as far as wanting to add more to the assignment than is required. For my lab last week I did not like the idea of having to add the items manually to the website. I instead took an OOP approach with Javascript to build the page based on an array of items. This worked very well for this lab and allowed me to easily expand the page if necessary. One thing I have found is that you can take things too far. For example my contact page utilizes php to submit the contents to an smtp server. This functions in an environment where php is available but unfortunately without a server it is not possible to run the code. This made the page not work properly offline and no longer met the requirements of the project.
ReplyDeleteI always do enjoy picking out colors to see what would look good with the look and with the layout. But there are many online tools you can use to pick out a good design for your website. And make it look the best.
ReplyDeleteI love your enthusiasm in this class. I am sure that if web developer is your career goal, this class is perfect. Personally, I never really had much interest in web design. Not that I had a problem with it, but I just never took the time to learn it. After this class, I could definitely see incorporating it into my work in the future. Your screenshots look amazing. It looks like you are creating a professional website. Very impressive! Also, I agree about the simplicity of the black and white. Looks great! Good luck going forward.
